Lizzie is doing her speaking lesson for a class of advanced-level adults. The topic is ¡®Money vs. Happiness¡¯. Students got a lot of practice improving their speaking fluency.
When asked about her lesson, she said ¡°For me the most interesting part was when students were sharing their unique ideas to better understand the connection between money and happiness. I loved to see how active students were. Thanks to the constructive feedback from my instructor, I learn to improve my rapport with students.¡±
Sunny did a reading lesson for her last micro teaching, which was especially interesting for her because she likes reading. She was teaching beginner level students using a text with the topic ¡°Fishing with dad¡± from a short novel. ¡°By giving them a picture related to the text and having them talk about it and share their funny stories created such a friendly and warm atmosphere. It is one of my best memories. Through this micro teaching, I learned many teaching techniques and reading skills, and how to motivate the students during class.¡± She was so happy with instructor David and her students.
Kate presented her grammar lesson in her usual active style using gestures and facial expression. She prepared lots of useful materials. Students usually find grammar hard to study, but she used creative visual materials and a video that help students to understand the grammar easily through context. It was a really fantastic grammar lesson.
Vivian¡¯s listening lesson was a good demonstration of how to teach using TESOL principles. For example, she used visually appealing materials, and elicited students¡¯ thinking, and both CCQed and drilled vocabularies for pronunciation.
